1st Team Squad Update

With the start of the Welsh Premier League season only four weeks away, Town’s playing squad is taking shape as the programme of pre-season friendlies progresses.

Players from last season’s squad who have now left the Club:

Kyle Bassett joined us from Welsh League Goytre at the start of the 2013/14 season and quickly became a firm favourite of supporters with his powerful running along the flanks – he wore the captain’s armband for a couple of seasons but last season his appearances were limited largely due to injury problems.  Kyle has now moved to Goytre Gwent  due largely to work commitments which don’t allow him to travel to N.Wales every other week.

Mark Jones joined us at the start of the 2015/16 season – he scored in his first competitive match and finished the season as joint top scorer with 14 goals.  Last season after scoring 8 goals during the WPL first-phase matches Mark went out on loan to his previous club Aberystwyth for the remainder of the season.  He has now signed for Afan Lido . Mark has secured a job in London which  means he is unable to train midweek

Declan Carroll joined us from Haverfordwest County at the start of last season.  With his dazzling footwork and slick passing he became an integral part of Town’s midfield and added a new dimension to our goal threat with his prodigious throw-ins.  He has now returned to one of his former clubs Aberystwyth.

Carmarthen Town thanks those players for their time with us and wishes them the

best of luck with their new clubs.

We also welcome five new players to the Club who have appeared in the pre-season friendlies so far, with Tyler joining us this week.

Kostya Georgievsky, a fast and powerful winger, has had WPL experience with Aberystwyth and before that Port Talbot.   He has appeared against us with both clubs.

Kyle Williams is another winger who has shown promise with his pace and movement in the pre-season friendlies, including setting up a goal and scoring another against STM - he has recently played for Risca and Goytre.

Liam Walsh – A wide player who joins us from Wrexham where he featured in the first team before going out on loan to Gresford

Scott Delaney – Scott is a nephew of Mark Delaney who needs no introduction to Town fans. Scott is a young centre half  who played for Goodwick last year and is a player of great potential.

Tyler Brock is an exciting prospect with a keen eye for goal. The 18yr old has joined us from Pontardawe Town and has signed for our 1st team and Development team. Tyler  scored a hatrick while representing our development team in a friendly last week.

Aize  continues to try and improve the depth  of the  1st Team squad and is hopeful  of continued improvemnet before the season starts. Mark, Danny and Neil have had a busy summer identifying new recruits to take us into the coming season.

Everyone at Carmarthen Town are pleased to have retained the majority of last seasons squad, who with a year's more experience together, go into the 2017-18 season with great anticipation.
